DISCUSS THE DANA WHITE CONTROVERSY

April 4, 2009 by searstapper

UFC president Dana White spoke his mind when reacting to a story reported by Loretta Hunt on Sherdog.com.  In his video blog on youtube.com he blasted Hunt and the article with a profanity-laced tirade which included a homosexual slur when addressing her use of an anonymous source.  The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called for White to apologize, which he did in a follow-up video blog entry.  What White did not say sorry for was the attack on Hunt, which has been described as “sexist” by The National Sports Review.

Watch the original video rant(thanks to Watch Kalib Run for the video) and Dana’s apology, then leave a comment with your thoughts.

Dana White’s Original Rant

Dana White’s Apology

“Watch Kalib Run” has a good collection of various web entries presenting various angles and thoughts on Dana White’s tirade.

Despite the outcry from media outlets such as CBS Sportsline, Sports Illustrated’s website, and Yahoo.com the reaction among mma fans is mixed.  Some argue this is a reflection of the fact those attracted to the sport are of the sleazy/mysogynistic/inarticulate pool of humanity.  There are even those in the blogosphere defending White’s statements arguing he has done nothing wrong.

What do you think of the whole thing?  Get the discussion going by leaving your comments below.

Speak your mind brother, free speech keep it up!

I love it how you can’t say a word like f a g g o t anymore. Free speech only goes as far as a lawyer can throw it.
