C3 Welterweight Champion DeRay Davis isn’t wasting any time getting back to action. The Team Corral fighter will participate in Bellator VII this Friday at the Aragon Ballroom.

Davis defeated Quinton McCottrell last Saturday in C3 Furious at the Hammond Civic Center.  He’s taking the fight on short notice as a last minute replacement for Marcelo Alfaya.  Davis’ opponent will be Jesse Juarez, a fighter who is 1-0 in Bellator after defeating Mikey Gomez by TKO in Bellator IV.

Ironically Davis told Chicago’s MMA after his win over McCottrell he was not satisfied with his majority decision win, and that he needed a better performance to get into a major promotion.

”Fighting for Bellator is a big chance for getting my name out there and fighting for a bigger organization,” said the Gary, IN native in a released statement.

“I’m never one to make excuses. It doesn’t matter if you’re sick or tired, when a big organization like Bellator calls you to fight you’re going to take it. I am looking forward to showing my talent against Jesse Juarez this Friday night for Bellator.”

Davis joins two other Chicago area welterweights on the card.  Midwest Training Center’s Kevin Knabjian and Ryan Williams will also compete Friday night at the venue also known as the “Brawlroom.”

Bellator Fighting Championships will air tape delayed on ESPN Desportes this coming Saturday, with an English language rebroadcast on Bellator’s website Bellator.com.
