on

Bellator Fighting Championships CEO Bjorn Rebney brings his show to Chicago with a big smile on his face.  In part one of an extended interview, he talks to Chicago’s MMA reporter L.J. Tabano about this Friday’s event at the Aragon Ballroom.  After the buzz created by some amazing moments in the last two events, he’s expecting the upcoming show to capitolize on the momentum.

Bellator VII is this Friday, May 15, 2009.  Tickets are available at Ticketmaster and the Aragon Ballroom’s box office.

I love what Rebney has done with Bellator. The tournament format takes the often-goofy matchmaking element out of the sport, and that can only be good.

I’m heading to the fights on Friday, so be sure to look me up for a free t-shirt!

I admire what Mr. Rebney has done with Bellator so far — not only for the sport, but more importantly, for the fighters themselves . He put his finger directly on a truth. Toby Imada’s and Rahir Reyes’s video responses on YouTube attest to these affirmations – a quarter of a million + viewers from a very limited audience at this point! From a unestablished organization! Honestly, I prefer what I have seen on Bellator to most of what I have seen on UFC!!! Except B.J. Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva, a couple of more lightweights.
