THE PITBULL IN THE PITS

May 16, 2010 by

Andrei Arlovski’s return to the MMA cage was not so triumphant.  He fought in Strikeforce St. Louis: Heavy Artillery against Antonio “Big Foot” Silva and lost by unanimous decision.  “The Pitbull” has been out of MMA for almost a year and during that time he gave thought to a boxing career.  Dare I ask, but did he do anything in the Silva fight to show he could do any better in the boxing ring?  What happend to the work he did with famed trainer Freddy Roach?  Watch the fights for yourself and weigh in .

Arlovski is under contract with Strikeforce for three more fight, but after this most recent loss would you still pay to watch him? How far does this loss put Arlovski out of heavyweight relevancy?

I was shocked at how poorly he performed. His chin seemed better, but his hands were still down quite a bit and he was moving straight back — which is what got him KO’d by Rogers. I don’t really see how a boxing career is an option for him. Maybe he has more speed than most of the heavyweights he would fight, but his technique seems really bad.
