Two local MMA companies recently received some major honors. First, Naperville-based “Fight Chix” has been nominated for the “Best MMA Lifestyle Brand” in the 2010 World Mixed Martial Arts Awards. They’ll be up against TapouT, RVCA, Silver Star and Affliction. On their blog they ask: “Help Fight Chix be the Cinderella of the Fighter’s Only World MMA Awards and vote for us to win!” You can vote for them by visiting the World Mixed Martial Arts Awards website.
Wheeling-based MMA Warehouse — one of the largest mixed martial arts retailers in the world — was recently awarded with the Bizrate Circle of Excellence 2010. To earn this prestigious distinction, retailers must receive significantly higher customer ratings than the Network average across seven key satisfaction indicators. It’s something that only 134 online retailers have been awarded.
“We always strive to provide an excellent customer experience and Bizrate gives customers the opportunity to tell us how we’re doing,” said Sarah Casey, Chief Operating Officer for MMAWarehouse.com. “Receiving this distinction tells us that we’ve exceeded their expectations in key areas — from shopping to delivery and beyond. For our company to be named alongside some of the biggest players in online retail is not only a milestone for us, but also the sport,” said Casey.
Officer Joe Fiorentino is a Cook County Deputy Sheriff, Black Belt and Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor. Joe has fought MMA, Pankration and in grappling tournaments. He’s a 12-time NAGA Grappling Champion and a 3-time Midwest Jiu-Jitsu Champion. Joe won twice at the NAGA Midwest Grappling Championships in September at The Odeum in Villa Park. He won his first fight in 23 seconds and took first in both the Mens Gi and No Gi Executive Expert division. In 2009 Joe was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
