Is “Mr. International” calling it a career? Shonie Carter lost via decision to Jeremy Knafo at Israel Fighting Championship: Genesis.

MMA Junkie reported that Shonie, “went toe to toe with a tough Knafo and split the first two rounds. But Knafo took control in the third with strikes from all angles that rocked his opponent and sealed the decision win. After the fight, the 38-year-old “Mr. International,” who was competing in his 10th country as part of an illustrious 14-year career, announced his intention to retire from the sport.”

Shonie has fought 10 times in the last two years: 5 times in 2009 and 5 more in 2010. He’s won in only 3 of those bouts, and he’s dropped 4 straight. Perhaps it’s that losing streak that has Mr. International contemplating retirement. We’ll see if he remains with those plans when he gets back to Chicago.
