APFC Adds Title Fights to MMA at the Max

APFC: MMA at the Max

American Predator Fighting Championship will hold “MMA at the Max” on October 8th in McCook, IL. After 6 shows, APFC has decided that it’s time to have title holders. Five belts will be on the line at this event, with fighters coming from several states to compete. The title fights will be at lightweight, welterweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight, as well as a women’s championship bout held at the catchweight of 140 lbs.

Here are the title fights:
Women’s Championship: Scottie Fortner vs. Christine Harrolle-Sarricola
Lightweight: Otis Brumfield vs. Jerod Jennings
Welterweight: Louie Boulahanis vs. Oliver Vazquez
Light Heavyweight: Josh Estrada vs Quadrey Little
Heavyweight: Jason Belyew vs. Tyler Reese

Belyew will have twice the motivation as he takes on Reese. Not only is the heavyweight title on the line, Belyew will be trying to erase his one and only loss, which came at the hands of Reese at a previous APFC event.

Estrada will be making his first appearance at 205 after fighting as a heavyweight. He was initially supposed to debut at 205 at Civil War MMA’s August show, but that event has been pushed back to November 5th. Estrada captured first place at the recent NAGA Midwest event in the No-Gi beginner division.

We’ll have more on the other title fights and rest of the card soon.

Neace Advances, Beebe Out on TUF 14

September 22, 2011 by

Carson BeebeIt was mixed results for Dustin Neace and Carson Beebe on the first episode of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Bisping vs. Team Miller”.

Dustin Neace won via unanimous decision (20-18 on all 3 cards) over Josh Clopton, although Dana White and both coaches believed that Clopton should have got the win. That doesn’t matter now, as Neace is officially in the 145 lb. tourney with the win.

Unfortunately, Gilbert Grappling’s Carson Beebe did not fare as well as Neace. Beebe did land some shots against John Bedford, but Bedford was able to take Beebe down and submit him with a neck crank.

Still, Beebe was happy to have had the opportunity. “TUF was a great experience. Dana White is a super-cool guy and he shows a lot of respect for his fighters,” Beebe told us recently. Just 23, Beebe already has 7 pro wins under his belt and will fight on.

The tournament begins in earnest next week, when the teams will be selected.

Street Fighting is Way Too Dangerous

September 21, 2011 by

Look, if you have anger and aggression issues, you need to channel them correctly. There is always someone out there that will be able to beat you down, no matter how tough you are. Why end up in the hospital, in jail or even dead?

Take it to the gym or MMA school. Street fighting is way too dangerous, as exhibited in this video.

Streetfight Ground and Pound

September 20, 2011 by

Look at this brutal streetfight between two transgenders, captured by a Texas TV station.  We’re not looking to glorify street fighting but there’s some good ground and pound displayed by the individual who managed to stay on her feet.  Not sure if she actually trained MMA, or perhaps has had a few scraps in her time.  If anything this isn’t something you see every night, which would explain why the news cameraman decided it was worthy enough to shoot.
