Bart Palaszewski’s Rapid Fire KO
Bart Palaszewski couldn’t have asked for a better UFC debut. He kept working the jab to keep Tyson Griffin at bay and kept the fight standing in the process. Then when he had his chance, he capitalized with a killer finish that earned him “Knockout of the Night” honors, and a cool $75K to boot.

He knocked out Griffin and may have knocked him out of the UFC, too.
Don’t Be Scared, Homie: GSP’s Shaky Hands
October 31, 2011 by Matt
Nick Diaz had some choice words for Georges St. Pierre after battering BJ Penn on his way to victory at UFC 137, calling him out and taunting him. What he said to GSP was basically nonsense, but it didn’t make it any less fun. GSP’s reaction was classic. Here’s the gif, thanks to the UG.

As one of the people in the forum said, if Diaz wanted to fight GSP so badly all he had to do was show up to a press conference. It’s all moot now. Dana White has announced that GSP will indeed fight Nick Diaz, with Condit fighting on the same card. “We spoke about it and if he wins, he will fight the winner of Diaz and GSP,” Dana White said.

Danny Downes UFC 137 Fighter Diary
October 27, 2011 by Matt
Chicago-born and Roufusport fighter Danny Boy Downes will enter the Octagon again this Saturday night as he takes on Ramsey Nijem at UFC 137.
In his UFC fighter diary, we get to see Downes doing some strength training, and he also schools us on why Lecithin acts as a natural emulsifier. I’m serious. Also Dan, I think you cheated on a few of those push-ups, both in quality and quantity. But since you entertain us, we won’t tell.

Roy Nelson Has Slimmed Down
October 26, 2011 by Matt
This pic of Roy Nelson & Forrest Griffin has been making the rounds. While black is definitely a slimming color, it sure looks as if Nelson is in better shape than he has been in years.
Nelson battles Cro Cop at UFC 137 on Saturday night. Cro Cop says he’s in his best shape and vowed to “die trying to be the old Cro Cop”. It’s an interesting matchup and I hope it goes three rounds. Here’s the preview video from the UFC for the Nelson vs. Cro Cop and Mitrione vs. Kongo fights.

I Would’ve Guessed Flying Armbar [gif]
October 24, 2011 by Matt
I would’ve guessed flying armbar, but he just went for the ultimate takedown instead.

But then he got on his horse, clearly just trying to steal the round. Hah!
Kenny Robertson’s Insane Spinning Back Fist KO
October 22, 2011 by Matt
Former UFC fighter Lucio “Spartan” Linhares is still fighting, mostly in Finland. Linhares won all three of his fights since leaving the UFC, but then matched up with East Peoria’s Kenny Robertson. Robertson, a veteran of C3, UFC and Bellator, took care of business with an unorthodox and amazing KO at Fight Festival 31.
Robertson’s only loss came in his only UFC fight, a 2nd round TKO loss to Mike Pierce at UFC 126. Now 11-1 and still just 27 years old, perhaps we will see the former Eastern Illinois wrestler in the Octagon again.
