HFC 9: Fall Brawl

Hoosier Fight Club has lined up another excellent card for HFC 9: Fall Brawl, November 5th in Valpo. Here’s a rundown of some of the matchups on the card.

Christian Uflacker, who we last saw cornering Rob Menigoz at Chicago Cagefighting Championship IV, will take on former TUF contestant Andy Main. Uflacker has not fought in MMA since November of 2009, when he beat Jonatas Novaes at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers.Since his loss on TUF, Main beat Bobby Reardanz at HFC 6, then had a no-contest at UCC 4.

Dan Bolden, who has fought locally in the XFO and CCC, will take on another former TUF contestant in John Kolosci. Both fighters will attempt to stop losing streaks. Bolden has lost three straight and Kolosci has lost two in a row: one in HFC and one in Bellator.

Team Top Notch’s Giovanni Moljo, who’s coming off an impressive submission win over Carson Beebe in March at CCC, will take on Josh Robinson. Team Top Notch’s PJ Cajigas will try for his first win as a pro against Roberto Nieto.

The main event will feature former TUF fighter Kris McCray against Kevin Nowaczyk. Chicago fight fans will recognize Nowaczyk from his fights in C3, XFO, TFC and Brawl at Bourbon Street. He is 4-1 as a pro and this will be his third fight for HFC.

McCray was cut by the UFC in April after three straight defeats. This will be his first fight since being dropped, but McCray told MMA Weekly that he believes he can compete at that level.

“After a fight like that it kind of sucks, but what can you do…never let it get in the hands of the judges. It was a great fight and not to take anything away from Hathaway, but I wish I would have got that last fight,” McCray told MMAWeekly.com.

“I know I can compete at that level, I had a really good fight and a tough guy at that level. So just get back, keep fighting, and we’ll see 3, 4, 5 or 6 fights, who knows, definitely want to get back on the bike.”
