Shonie Carter

by Matt Lo Cascio

Shonie Carter took in the fights at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond on Friday night, dressed to the nines as usual, snapping pics with adoring fans and having a good time.

Carter recently had surgery on his leg — you can see pictures here — and told us that the leg is doing fine. He said that the lipoma that were removed were non-cancerous, but he is retired from MMA.

“Call me Coach Carter now,” Shonie said.

He had his left hand wrapped and said that his doctor told him that his hand can no longer endure the punishment of fighting.

When mentioned that he has retired before only to come back and fight again, Carter flashed that great smile but said there was no chance he fights again. “This time it’s official,” Shonie said.

We’ll see.
