Christian Uflacker: One Championship Will Shock the World in 2015

BJJ Black Belt Christian “Xaropinho” Uflacker is resuming his MMA career after a layoff of over two years. Uflacker signed with the newly-named One Championship last week, formerly known as One FC.

Uflacker never planned on such a lengthy absence from MMA, but both injuries and business commitments got in the way.

“The reason I took a break was because I suffered a fracture in my face in my last fight. So I had to take a break until the doctor told me I was OK. After that I got very busy with my business,” Uflacker told Chicago’s MMA. That business, of course, is the Uflacker Academy, where there are classes every day of the week.

Uflacker (5-0) has already fought in both Bellator and Strikeforce, plus local promotions TFC and HFC. He says his decision to go with One Championship was an easy one.

“One Championship is one of the fastest growing promotions in the world. They have great credibility. I’m so happy to grow my career with them as they grow in the MMA world. One Championship is going to shock the MMA world in 2015 with high-quality fights and big cards!”

Uflacker won’t be travelling to get ready for his One Championship debut.

“I’m going to do my training here in my academy in Chicago. I have great training partners.”

Uflacker will fight at lightweight, and he was one of eight fighters signed by the promotion last week. He holds wins over tough veterans LC Davis and Cliff Wright, as well as a win in Strikeforce over fellow BJJ black belt Jonatas Novaes.

He’s not sure when he will make his debut for the promotion, but he is ready to get back in the cage and run his winning streak to six.
