Two former champions will square off against each other in the Octagon as UFC on FOX 26: Lawler vs. Dos Anjos goes down Saturday, Dec. 16. Dos Anjos, the former UFC lightweight champion who has made the move to welterweight, will take on former UFC welterweight champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler in the main event. Let’s take a look at UFC on FOX 26 Best Bets.

Robbie Lawler (-115) vs. Rafael Dos Anjos (-105)

Two fighters with extreme knockout power will clash in the main event, and most fans would be surprised if this one doesn’t end before the final bell. The line is just about even according to Best Fight Odds. Lawler will have significant height and reach advantages and everyone knows about the brutal power he can deliver with both hands, as well as kicks when he chooses to throw them. Dos Anjos has power and also a great ground game, but one of the best improvements to Lawler’s game over the years has been his takedown defense. I think Lawler wins this firefight with a highlight reel knockout. We all know there are people who love to bet on UFC events, and a wager on Lawler vs. Dos Anjos would make this battle insanely exciting.

Ricardo Lamas (-240) vs. Josh Emmett (+200)

The UFC lines them up and Ricardo Lamas knocks them down, literally and figuratively. Jason Knight is a fine fighter and viewed by many as a top prospect in the sport, but Lamas made easy work of him in July with a first round TKO finish. Before that he choked out Charles Oliveira, another of the UFC’s top fighters. Josh Emmett is next for “The Bully,” and he holds a 12-1 record and fights out of Team Alpha Male. Emmett is 3-1 in the UFC with all four fights going to the judges’ scorecards. Emmett has landed significant strikes at a high volume against his previous opponents, but none are on the level Lamas is, especially defensively. Emmett would also be wise to keep this one standing as Lamas has a sneaky, underrated ground game. I see Lamas getting this to the ground and finishing Emmett with a submission. The -240 odds won’t deliver much of a profit, but Lamas is a solid bet here.

Glover Teixeira (+110) vs. Misha Cirkunov (-130)

The game changes quickly in MMA. It wasn’t long ago that Teixeira was a top contender in the UFC light heavyweight division, but he’s lost two of his last three bouts, including devastating knockouts from Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Now 38, one wonders how much punishment Teixeira can take after many brutal wars over a long career. Misha Cirkunov is more of a ground specialist, and he’s also coming off a knockout loss to Volkan Oezdemir. It was the first time he’s ever been knocked out and he won’t find it any easier against the power-punching Teixeira. I don’t think Cirkunov will be able to submit Teixeira, who has never been submitted in his career. I like this to be an upset special, with Teixeira getting a big win by knockout and maintaining his relevance in the light heavyweight division.
