Beebe Bros. Notch Wins at Colosseum Combat XXI

The Beebe brothers — Chase and Carson — were both back in action on Saturday night in Kokomo, Indiana, fighting at Colosseum Combat XXI.
Chase was featured in the main event against Cory Mahon, and finished his work quickly with some devastating ground and pound.
Carson had some ground and pound of his own for opponent Brady Hovermale, taking the fight to the ground early in the first and doing damage from top position. Carson won via unanimous decision.
Chase made it two straight wins with his TKO of Mahon, and Carson made it five straight wins.
War Machine Comes to Chicago

The War Machine is coming to Chicago. Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver is set to make his return to the cage against Gideon “The Gladiator” Ray at Chicago Cagefighting Championship IV on Saturday, October 15 at the Odeum in Villa Park.
Fresh off a one-year bid in prison, War Machine will try to resurrect what was once a promising career. He was a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra”, and went 1-1 in the UFC. He was then dropped by the UFC, but put together a string of 5 wins in other promotions.
But he ran into trouble with the law and was arrested on multiple occasions. He ended up doing a year in jail and was released this July.
He’ll have a tough fight in Gideon Ray. Ray is well-rounded and experienced, having fought locally at XFO, Ironheart Crown, TFC and Hoosier Fight Club. He’s best know for his stint on “The Ultimate Fighter” and time in the UFC. Ray has dropped two straight and three of his last 4 fights. He coaches and fights out of MMA Masters in Chicago,.

Danny Gilbert Returns at Supremacy 4

Gilbert Grappling’s Danny Gilbert will return to the cage for the first time in over two years when he takes on Joshua Lee at Cut Throat MMA’s Supremacy 4.
Gilbert has fought big names like Frank Trigg and Hayato Sakurai, and has fought locally in the XFO, Ironheart Crown and Brawl at Bourbon St. He’s also scheduled to fight on October 15th at Chicago Cagefighting Championship IV. He talked about his upcoming fight with Lee in this video.

CHICAGO CAGEFIGHTING RELEASES MARCH 5TH CARD
Chicago Cagefighting Championship just released the card for their March 5th show, and it looks excellent. Besides Jens Pulver and Chase Beebe, fans get to see the return of Dan Gilbert. Gilbert has fought only sporadically since 2004, but he is a veteran of Shooto, XFO, Ironheart Crown and Brawl at Bourbon Street. He has fought big names like Hayato Sakurai and Frank Trigg. Now he’ll make his first appearance in the cage since 2009. Check out our interview with Dan Gilbert from November of 2009, where he tells us how he and his brother, UFC vet Joey started Gilbert Grappling.
Also on the card are Team Curran’s Joey Diehl, Felice Herrig and Eric Kriegermeier, MTC’s Mike Pitz and Dennis Dombrow, Hackney’s Jeff Lavallee and Gilbert Grappling’s Carson Beebe.

DAN GILBERT INTERVIEW

Gilbert Grappling has a great new location, a new website and now they are hosting their own event: Black Wednesday G2 Fight Night. We talked with Dan Gilbert to ask him about the event, his fighting career and what’s happening at their school.
CM: For those that don’t know, tell us a bit about the history of Gilbert Grappling.
Dan Gilbert: It really got started in 2001 when Joey was training for the UFC 31 fight against BJ Penn. We were frustrated that we couldn’t find a good place to train and were working out in his garage. Over the years we have outgrown a few locations and are currently in our 4th and biggest location. We started out with a hand full of fighters and now have close to 40 with a good mix of upcoming amateurs and seasoned professionals. Due to our upbringing and success in wrestling, we tend to attract some the best wrestlers in state to our facility.
CM: Tell us about the new location for your school.
DG: Our new location is in Country Club Hills. It’s nice to have good amount of mat space were 40 guys can roll with out constantly bumping into each other. We have also added more classes that accommodate all levels of experience and conditioning.

CM: After a long layoff, you’ve been active with your fight career lately. In 2008 you fought in the XFO and IHC, and this year at the “Lock Down In Lowell”. Do you have another fight scheduled and will you continue to pursue a fighting career?
DG: Yes, my next fight is on November 20th at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso, Indiana. I plan to continue fighting and take my career one fight at a time.
CM: Tell us about the G2 Fight Night event.
DG: We are really looking forward to Black Wednesday G2 Fight Night and hope everyone will come out to support the local fighters. It should be a really fun way to start off Black Wednesday, one of the biggest party nights of the year. The event will feature Danny Benoit, Jake Murphy, Carson Beebe and Adam Ward whom are all planning to be turning pro after this event. We also have new guys that will be stepping into the cage for their first or only second time, Matt Giancarlo, Joe Wassong and Ryan DiPompeo.
Upon the success of this event, we plan to host more events in 2010 to support the growth of MMA of both amateurs and professionals.
