Kimbo Slice Scores KO Win in Boxing Debut
August 14, 2011 by Matt
Kimbo Slice’s long-awaited boxing debut has finally taken place. But it didn’t last very long at all.
Kimbo KO’d James Wade to score his first win. Wade got a ride on a stretcher and an ambulance on his way to the hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. How many more cans will Kimbo fight before they give him a real test? My guess is probably 2-3. They can’t wait too long because Kimbo has a bum knee and it is getting a little long in the tooth.
Is The Ultimate Fighter Still Relevant?
by “The Entity” Tim Stroud
The Ultimate Fighter just finished its 13th season with Tony Ferguson beating Ramsey Nijem by first round KO (punches). The 14th season of TUF will begin taping later this month with Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller as the coaches. Bisping and Miller will be in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale on December 3rd.
There have been rumblings in the MMA community that TUF is not relevant anymore. It’s true that the ratings have not always been up to par and the talent might seem a little watered down at times. But the majority of TUF winners, and some losers, have gone on to have a successful career with the UFC.
It’s easy to understand why people think that TUF isn’t what it once was. Just look back at the Forrest Griffin/Stephan Bonnar fight from Season 1. That fight helped put the UFC on the map.
The UFC has tried different methods to put a spark into the show. They created “The Comeback” in Season 4, which put the winners of each weight class in a title fight. Matt Serra took advantage of his opportunity and won the show & his title fight with Georges St. Pierre.
The UFC also started having fighters compete to become official cast members on Season 7. The excitement of watching the guys fight to get into the TUF house was a great way to start the season. They’ve even tried to bring in fans with street fighters like internet star Kimbo Slice on Season 10. Even though he was defeated early, the fans stuck around to see Rashad Evans & Quinton “Rampage” Jackson go at each other.
Finally, in the eleventh season, they started the “wildcard” slot. The “wildcard” fight was created to pair two losing fighters for one last chance to get back into the competition. Kris McCray benefited from the “wildcard” addition to get to the finals, only to lose to Court McGee, who was brought back in to replace an injured Rich Attonito.
Sure it’s easy to say that TUF isn’t relevant anymore, but the UFC always finds a way to keep it fresh. Yes, there will be drunken arguments, shady characters and bad fights, but that’s part of its charm. Some amazing fighters have come out of the TUF house and gone on to win or compete in title fights. Not only does the audience get to know new fighters, techniques and styles each season, but they get to see two UFC fighters coach before they go head to head in the octagon.
Here is the real question, Is The Ultimate Fighter still relevant to you?

RIDICULOUS COMPARISON: UFC VS. WWE
April 19, 2011 by Matt
Some kid took a break from playing Halo to drum up this woefully uninformed infographic comparing the UFC vs. WWE. Click the pic for the full-screen.
This appeared on Madatoms.com. I’m not sure if he was trying to start a flame war or just obtain traffic, but it’s pretty lame. Almost every ‘point’ can be refuted easily. Random appearances by Kimbo Slice? Weak sauce, son!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM KIMBO SLICE!

KIMBO SLICE, WORLD’S STRONGEST MAN COMING TO CHICAGO
The MMA promotion Moosin is bringing some big fighters — in both name and size — right here to Chicago according to MMA Fighting. The event is scheduled to take place on October 9th at a venue that has yet to be determined.
Moosin wants to match up Tim Sylvia against Hong Man Choi and Kimbo Slice against world’s strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski. Moosin executive Corey Fischer told MMA Fighting, “I would say the Kimbo-Pudzianowski fight is the furthest from being finished, but we’re trying to work on it and make it happen.” With Chicago’s huge Polish population, Pudzianowski against anyone would be a huge draw here. But pitting him against the former Elite XC and UFC fighter Kimbo makes it sensational.
Sylvia is coming off a win against Pudzianowski at the first Moosin event in May, “God of Martial Arts”. Slice hasn’t fought since losing by TKO to Matt Mitrione at UFC 113. He was cut by the UFC after that loss. Hong Man Choi is most famous for having fought Jose Canseco, as well as being submitted by Fedor Emelianenko on New Year’s Eve in 2007. He last fought in October of 2009, losing to Ikuhisa Minowa. He holds a 2-4 MMA record, with other losses to Badr Hari and Cro Cop.
KIMBO SLICE’S TOP 3 STREET FIGHTS
May 6, 2010 by Matt
It’s pretty wild that Kimbo Slice is a fighter on the UFC roster. Fans were told that he would never be in the UFC unless he went through “The Ultimate Fighter” competition. Kimbo did and lost to Roy Nelson, yet he’s still in the UFC and being used to promote pay-per-view events like UFC 113. Before Kimbo the MMA fighter, fans simply knew him from his You Tube street fights. Here are Kimbo’s top 3 street fights. A brief warning that there is some language, so earmuffs if you’re at work or around kids.

THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 10: MEET THE HEAVYWEIGHTS
September 7, 2009 by Matt
We now know that Rampage will be skipping the Rashad fight to go and shoot “The A-Team” — likely a “B” movie — so there will be no coaches duel, at least not directly after season’s end. That shouldn’t take away too much enjoyment from the latest season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, which premieres September 16th on Spike.
With Kimbo Slice, former IFL champ “Country” Roy Nelson, Wes Sims and 4 former NFL players, the potential is there for this to be the best ever season of TUF — in the ring and in the house.
ULTIMATE FIGHTER 10 PROMO
Here’s the Ultimate Fighter 10 promo — and it is awesome. Roy Nelson can bang, Wes Sims is a character (to put it kindly) and of course there is the buzz of Kimbo. My only concern is spoilers. I don’t know anyone that enjoys them and I hope we don’t hear anything too soon. I want to fully enjoy this.
