Chase Beebe’s hunt for the the DREAM Featherweight Belt is over for now.
The four-time Illinois high school wrestling champion faced Joe Warren in the first round of the Japanese promotion’s 16-man tournament, held at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. According to
Sherdog.com play-by-play Warren caught Beebe with knee late in the first round which opened a cut by his right eye. Bloody Elbow is also providing play-by-play and it says the fight was stopped immediately after the round ended. The ringside doctor called it after looking at Chase’s cut, ending the Montini Catholic graduate’s bid for the title.
His record overall is now 11-4, 0-1 in DREAM. There are two fights remaining in his contract with the FEG owned outift.
Warren advances to the second round of the FWGP which will be DREAM 9 this upcomng May.
Beebe must now deal with legal issues stemming from his failure to participate in the Ultimate Warrior Challenge’s “Man O War” event last February. He claimed a knee injury prevented him from making weight and facing Mike Easton for the UWC’s unclaimed Bantamweight Belt. The former Purdue University grappler didn’t even make the trip to Washington, DC where the event was held. Promoter Marcello Foran told Fightticker.com the Virginia State Athletic Association indefinitely suspended Beebe for his breach of contract and for failing to have an injury checked by a pre-approved doctor. Through a press release the organization said it plans to hold Beebe legally accountable.
