Top Notch/Jeff Neal fighter Ricardo Lamas took advantage of his big break. The lightweight got the call from the WEC to face Team Curran veteran Bart Palaszewski as a last minute replacement for Rich Crunkilton at WEC 39. “The Bully” jumped on the opportunity and faced heavy odds as members of the national media, unfamiliar with Lamas, expected Palaszewski to win easily and claim top contender status for Jamie Varner’s belt.
But the former Division III All-American wrestler from Elmhurst College used an effective ground and pound attack to score the upset over Bartimus in front of a national audience on Versus. Since then fans have taken notice and are giving him praise on the various message boards. Chicago’s MMA’s L.J. Tabano caught up Ricardo at Top Notch Gym.

That was a nice little interview. He seems like a good dude and now more people can keep their eyes on him.
