Eddie Alvarez is one of the top lightweights in the world, and also one of the most exciting.  He leads a pack of hungry fighters into Dayton, OH for Bellator Fighting Championships V on May 1, 2009.

Fans coming to the Hara Arena will see semi-final action in the lightweight tournament.  Eddie Alvarez faces Eric Reynolds in one pairing, and in the other it’s Jorge Masvidal against Toby Imada.

Eddie realizes fans expect him to win and advance to face Masvidal in the final.  However he told Chicago’s MMA he’s not looking past the opponent in front of him and “it’s more important for me to focus on competing at a high level.”

Everyone expects Alvarez to give an outstanding performance whenever he steps into the cage.  It’s because the Philadelphia product has always managed to fight all-out and makes things exciting when he’s competing.

Alvarez promises some not so pleasant things for his future opponents.  “I’m gonna take his heart, put it in a doggie bad and take it home.”

Despite the confidence, there is one thing that upsets the former BoDogFIGHT champion.  The fact UFC 101 is coming to his hometown of Philadelphia to crown the UFC’s 155 pound champion, and he can’t compete in it.  “Brings a tear to my eye, my home town, crown the number one guy in the world,” says the Fight Factory brawler.
