Former Cut Throat MMA promoter Viet Nguyen pleaded not guilty to one count each of wire fraud and tax evasion Thursday in U.S. District Court.
Nguyen was not remanded, but was ordered to return to court at 8:30 Monday morning for a continuation of his bond hearing, according to Randall Samborn, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.
What will be determined at the hearing on Monday is Nguyen’s ability to post property for a secured bond. If he is unable to do so, he may face extended pre-trial detention.

Nguyen and Miguel face federal fraud charges for allegedly cheating credit card companies of approximately $1.2 million and evading their personal federal income tax obligations of more than $1.5 million.
A request for an interview with Nguyen was denied. “I have no comment at this moment,” Nguyen told Chicago’s MMA.
