Ed Carpenter finished his XFO 51 fight in less than a minute, putting Aaron Ware to sleep with what was officially ruled an arm triangle, but was a Von Flue choke.
Ware came out swinging and backed Carpenter up into the cage. But Carpenter calmly turned his opponent, changed levels, scored a single-leg takedown and then choked Ware unconscious from half-guard.
The quick finish was exciting, but what’s also great is that the very moment Ware’s leg goes limp and he loses half-guard, you can hear MTC coach Alex Trujillo yelling to the ref he’s out.
Carpenter’s win was one of many for MTC on the night. They went undefeated at XFO 51, with wins from Adam Maciejewski, Oliver Vazquez, Brandon Andriola and Kevin Switalla.
