Today we take a look at the best finishes from one of the best to ever don the 4 oz. gloves — Hall of Fame UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov. Watch as Khabib dominates Conor McGregor, Thiago Tavares, and other UFC fighters.
Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov is a retired Russian mixed martial artist widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time. Born in Dagestan, he began wrestling at a young age under the tutelage of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, and holds a strong background in combat sambo, in which he is a two-time world champion.
Known for his relentless pressure and dominant grappling, Nurmagomedov compiled a perfect professional record of 29-0 before retiring in 2020. He was the longest-reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, holding the title from April 2018 to March 2021. His notable wins include victories over Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje, all of which were title defenses.
He has moved into a coaching role, carrying on the legacy of his late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. While he has said that he’s not a full-time coach and has even mentioned a desire to eventually retire from coaching to focus on family, he remains a key figure in the training of several high-level fighters.
His most notable student is his longtime friend and teammate, Islam Makhachev, who currently holds the UFC Lightweight Championship, a title Khabib once held. Khabib is often in Makhachev’s corner for his fights and is credited with helping him reach the top of the division. He also coached his cousins Umar Nurmagomedov and Usman Nurmagomedov.
